Hey everyone! I've been working through the responses from the UX test for the new website. A ton of you voted for the forum feature, and had even suggested a space where we could share work and help each other learn. I'm hoping this can be a place where we share art and learn from one another. Even though I make the paint, I am by no means an all around watercolor expert, so I know I'll learn from you too! I still have yet to add a few more elements to the website, one of which is an introduction, so I might as well put that here in the meantime. If you don't know, my name is Emma and it's been me behind Dreamland this whole time. Although I'm the only one who makes the paint and fills the pans, I haven't been able to pull this all off on my own. I've had so much help from my Aunt, Uncle, Mom, and Fiancé for this past year that I honestly don't think I could have kept going without them. We also have Jessica, who helps out with online operations, and my amazing Brand Ambassadors, who you'll get to know here soon 💜 I'm 25, and I graduated from Grand Valley State University in West Michigan in December of 2021 with a B.S. in Writing and a minor in Applied Linguistics, and thankfully I've been able to keep Dreamland Watercolor as my full-time job. Dreamland started in June of 2020 when we were all bored at home taking up new hobbies, and this was mine! The lettering community on Instagram was a huge inspiration, especially Melissa from @cloversetlettering, who I have worked with, and continue to work with on many projects for you guys! That summer, I had made so much paint that after awhile, I had so much of it that I opened up an Etsy shop just to see. Honestly, I didn't tell a soul about that Etsy shop until I made my first sale. But it happened, and here we are. A few other things about me, I am recently engaged (and looking for a live wedding painter if you know any!), and we just bought our first house. Henry is our golden retriever, who has an endless appetite, yes unfortunately including paint, Franny, AKA Mr. Pants, is our cat, and he's the best. My favorite cake is carrot cake, and I drink too much iced coffee year round. That about sums it up. Thank you for being here, seriously. I hope to grow this community into a place where artists can learn from, and encourage one another. Rest assured, this is a safe space for all artists, and if anyone is making it otherwise, we'll take care of it. 💜 Emma

If you have any suggestions for using Dreamland Watercolors or if you discovered a new way of using them-- let's hear it! This is also a great spot to put any tips for watercolor in general, it can be an intimidating medium for beginners. I'll start us off. - Activation!! In order to achieve full opacity and optimum performance, let a few drops of water soak onto the paints for at least 2 minutes. *Some collections, like the Botany Collection, require more activation time than others. - I haven't personally done it, but I know that Dreamland's paints can be used on surfaces other than watercolor paper, such as: lampshades (!!), shoes, wood, and miniatures. Just make sure to use the proper sealant so your hard work doesn't wash away.
